The advantages of wet dog food at a glance: Wet food comes in convenient portion cans. Covered with a lid, canned food may be stored in the refrigerator for a few days after opening. Wet food is ideal, especially for dogs that are to be fed a low-energy diet. Pets with a sensitive stomachs also benefit from this feeding method, because it is gentler on the stomach and is recommended for dogs with digestive issues. The high moisture content of wet food provides your furry friend with water, so wet food is particularly suitable for dogs who don’t drink enough. The extra amount of moisture helps balance the daily fluids requirement and supports your dog’s kidneys.

How much canned food does a dog need? You can adapt and portion the wet food for dogs individually. On average, an adult, healthy dog needs about 2 - 3% of its body weight in food daily. The amount and type of canned food also depends on the following criteria: Weight, size, illnesses (allergies, intolerances, kidney disease, etc.), activity level, the dog’s age. If you have a puppy, then you should feed specific puppy food. If you have a senior dog, you can either use special food for seniors or adapt the existing wet food to the needs of your older dog.

In old age, our furry companions also need additional supplements for bones and joints. Green-lipped mussel capsules contain glycosaminoglycans, which help keep the joints healthy.

Which wet dog food is best for puppies? With puppies, you should use natural puppy food, specially developed for the needs of young dogs and usually contains a higher amount of proteins and trace elements. If the puppy is fed wet dog food for adult or senior dogs, nutrient deficiencies or overdoses can develop and lead to long-term health consequences, especially during the sensitive growth phase.

Wet dog food, grain-free & gluten-free for dogs with allergies

Allergies and food intolerances in dogs are on the rise. The reason is often unsuitable nutrition. For dogs with allergies, it is not relevant whether wet or dry food is fed to dogs. Instead, it mainly depends on the ingredients, less on the preparation or consistency. Additives such as grain or gluten promote allergies in dogs and are also difficult to process for the canine’s digestive system. For dogs with allergies, rare types of meat such as wet food with horse or rabbit meat is particularly suitable.

We recommend our AniForte® Single Protein varieties for food-sensitive pets, which are made exclusively from high-quality meat. They are 100% free of other additives and provide your dog with fresh natural meat.
