AniForte® Wild – Dried Mealworms for wild birds, squirrels and hedgehogs

Our AniForte® Wild - Dried Mealworms are a perfect and protein-rich snack for wild birds, squirrels and hedgehogs. The dried mealworms are not only a welcome treat, but also have lots of positive properties:

Particularly rich in protein

Optimal change to our classic wild bird food

Provide wild birds, squirrels and hedgehogs with valuable protein building blocks

Our dried mealworms are 100% natural and offer the ideal supplement to kernels, nuts and seeds in classic wild bird food. In spring and summer in particular, they are ideal for feeding young birds. Due to their small size, they reduce the risk of suffocation for the little birds; sunflower seeds and nuts should be fed with caution at this time of year.

In addition to being an ideal addition to birdseed, mealworms are also a popular snack for other garden dwellers. Hedgehogs and especially squirrels can get important nutrients from the dried insects.

However, inform yourself first about the individual animals and their eating habits. Hedgehogs, for instance, are quite particular when it comes to their food and they should only be fed when they are weak or underdeveloped and may not survive hibernation. Milk, fruit, vegetables or nuts are not part of their diet, and even mealworms should only be given in moderation, even though hedgehogs are insect and meat eaters. The digestion of the hedgehog produces hydrocyanic acid, which is poisonous to the prickly garden dweller in large quantities. However, up to 10 mealworms a day are completely harmless and very tasty for the hedgehog. Healthy cat food with a high meat content, such as that offered by AniForte®, is actually best for hedgehogs.

Since mealworms are primarily high in protein, they are not suitable as a “complete feed” for birds and squirrels, but rather as a snack or as a component of feed mixtures.
