How to Use Slippery Elm Bark Powder

Slippery Elm Bark Powder can be so beneficial to your pets, however it can be hard to know if you're making and using it properly. Keep reading (and watching) to find out how!

About the Powder

Slippery Elm Bark Powder is a fast-acting supplement to support the gastrointestinal tract. This nutrient-rich supplement can harmonise the stomach and intestinal activity by forming a natural layer in your pet's inner stomach and intestinal wall.

Its soothing and lubricating effects can be used internally for the support of the digestive system and to provide healthy nutrients. It can also be used externally to be applied to scratches and other superficial wounds.

Instructions

In this handy video below, we show you how to turn the powder into syrup so that it can be administered to your pet before their meals.

Written instructions:

Mix 4g (1 measuring spoon = 1g) AniForte Slippery Elm Bark Powder into 250ml of cold water in a steel pan. Bring to the boil, then remove the pan from heat and continue stirring until the powder has completely dissolved. Leave the syrup to cool. The syrup will keep refrigerated up to five days.

Administer the syrup 30 minutes before the regular meal. Don't mix it with food as the syrup can hinder the absorption of other nutrients from food or supplements.

Tip: if, contrary to expectations, your pet does not like the mixed syrup, try stirring the elm bark powder into home-made chicken broth instead of water.
